About Us
My passion for fishing and the outdoors started at a young age, but once I moved to Erie to attend Gannon University during the mid-1990s, my passion grew greater still. Once you fish the Great Lakes, no other freshwater lakes can compare.
Over the past twenty-plus years, if it swims, I’ve caught it. I continue to study the habits and patterns of my favorite species thanks to my meticulous nature and untamed curiosity. I continue to combine research will good old fashioned, “gut instincts” to introduce my clients to some of the most sought freshwater gamefish in the world. I continue to be fascinated by the beauty and complexity of the fishing habitats in close proximity to us here in Lake Erie.
In 2010, I decided to take my love of Lake Erie and the Great Lakes to the next level by competing professionally in local tournaments. Within the span of a few years, I had earned five Top 5 finishes in such events as the Summer Slam. When not booked (which is a rarity these days), I continue to fish local tournaments. (Keep in mind that I specialize in tournament charters. Be sure to contact me for more information.)
In 2014, I obtained my Master Charter Captain License to further my career on the water. I was mentored by Capt. Roger Toy as I worked as a mate on his boat. I gained invaluable knowledge from Capt. Roger and his more than 28 years of experience. So much experience, in fact, that Capt. Roger made me the successor to his legendary charter boat “The Minnie” so that I could launch my very own fishing charter business.
I continue to build my reputation as a knowledgeable and friendly charter captain and I take great joy in providing anglers with experiences similar to those that have shaped my own life, especially new anglers. There is nothing like being the one to introduce a young angler to the Lake Erie fishery and her All-Star lineup.
Come join me aboard Gills for Thrills as we pursue legendary freshwater species such as Walleye, Steelhead, Trout, Smallmouth Bass and others. You’ll enjoy the experience of targeting these species in picturesque, nearly transparent water aboard the best-equipped charter vessel on Lake Erie.
